A formation of three wind
surfers lying on a beach somewhere in South Wales. Originally photographed
on 35mm colour slide film but then solarised on lith film & printed on
traditional black & white paper. The solarisation treatment results
in two main effects, generating lines, known as Makay lines, around the edges
of high contrast boundaries and giving smoother toned areas a metallic
sheen. The solarisation technique has so many variables it's impossible
to reproduce and getting the right result requires much trial & error
& patience. Modern digital simulations cannot achieve the subtleties
of the real thing. The print you will receive is a high quality re-photograph
of the original paper print with a slight cool digital toning. Stuart Hewins DPAGB |
