Chesterton Mill , situated
near to the Old Fosse Way about 30 miles south of Leicester and photographed
on a late summer day just after the wheat had been harvested. Kodak
High Speed Infra Red black & white film maximises the texture in the
stubble & sky and imparts a heavy graininess which unifies the composition.
The eye follows the lines in the stubble to this unique mill and the
very small but visually powerful figure on the left, admiring the mill, adding
a sense of purpose. Photographed with a specially adapted Olympus OM10
combined with a 24 ultra wide angles lens; the original being printed onto
traditional black & white paper using wet dark room techniques. Stuart Hewins DPAGB |
