During a walk along the field
paths in east Leicestershire one day I chanced upon a small field which had
been allowed to rest for a year following one supposes a crop of sunflowers
the previous year. The result was a delightful mix of the occasional
self set sunflowers amongst random self set oats. This natural blend
offered the opportunity for a rather different image of sunflowers to the
usual massed flower heads and I feel that the oats make an excellent foil
to set off the solitary flowers heads; with just the echo of a second out
of focus flower in the background to give the composition depth. The
bee? it adds interest but not really such a lucky addition - try taking
a photograph of a sunflower in mid summer without one! Photographed
pre digital on the classic Fujichrome Velvia 50 ASA slide film with and Olympus
OM2 in combination the a 70mm - 200mm lans. Stuart Hewins DPAGB |
