One of those images which
the computer screen with its lack of resolution of fine detail & texture
does not do any justice and this image is all about fine detail & texture;
see the way in which it changes from one corner to the next, always different
but never boring; light on dark, dark on light, spots of floating leaves,
vertical stripes of grasses. Against this is set the dark tortuous
shape of the knarled discarded branch and its echo from the little branch
in the top right. I must admit to this image being one of my favourites
in my whole portfolio; all the more satisfying from it being produced from
such intrinsically un picturesque materials. Long Moss tarn itself
is hidden amongst the humps & hollows of Tover Back Common, just off
the A5084 along the west side of Coniston Water in the Lake District. Pre
digital on Velvia 50ASA slide film using a Canon500N in combination with
a 100mm - 300mm lens. Stuart Hewins DPAGB |
