Three autumn
beech leaves backlit by the sun against a diffuse background created by the
sunlight filtering through the branches of the tree. The leaves glow
like jewels & the water droplets, achieved by re-photographing a back
projected image behind a sheet of wet glass, produce an impressionistic
end result in keeping with the dampness of autumn. A final slide sandwich
with one blue toned & one sepia toned lith mask converts the original
background highlights into areas of subtle colour. As the title suggests
the third, & best, of the three original variations of this image.
An entirely non digital image originally photographed on colour slide film
with an Olympus OM10 and the 'long end' of a 70mm - 200mm lens. Stuart Hewins DPAGB |
